About Us
Graniteville Pre-School is part of the Johnston Public Schools. We offer a RI Early Learning Development Standards based program for children ages 3-5 years old who reside in the town of Johnston, RI. We have 5 classrooms that include the following full and half day programs:
- Integrated Classroom - a half day program (AM and PM sessions) that services children with disabilities and typically developing peers. Maximum class size is 15 students. Staffing is one certified Early Childhood /Special Education Teacher and two Teaching Assistants.
- Universal Classroom - a half day program that consists of children with disabilities and and typically developing peers. Maximum class size is 18 students. Staffing is one certified Early Childhood Teacher, two Teacher Assistants. Additional certified support staff provide services within the classroom setting as determined by Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and may include: an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, speech and language therapist, occupational therapist, and physical therapist.
- RI Preschool (State Preschool) - This is a full day program. To be eligible for this program children must be 4 years old by Sept.1st and reside in the town of Johnston. Children are selected for this program through a state run lottery system. Staffing is one Early Childhood Certified Teacher, and two Teacher Assistants. An Itinerant Early Childhood Special Education Teacher provides support within the classroom as determined by Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).
